Show people you’re the real deal by photo verifying. It’ll give them confidence that you’re the same great person IRL as you are in your profile photos.
How do I photo verify?
To get verified:
- While setting up your profile, you’ll be prompted to verify your photos
- On the verification page, tap ‘Got it’ to have your photos reviewed automatically, or select ‘Request a manual review’
- The only difference is the way that your photos are reviewed; the verification process is still the same
- Tap ‘Let’s go’ on the ‘Confirm your identity’ page
- You’ll then be prompted to take a selfie (no need to press anything here, it will take the picture automatically
- If you’re having problems with this, you can select ‘Try manually’ to bring up a button to take the picture yourself
- BFF will look at the selfie to make it’s a real person, and that it matches your main profile photo, then approves or rejects the verification
I’m having issues with photo verification
If you're running into issues, here’s how to fix them quickly:
“We couldn’t verify your selfie” message:
- You’ll have 3 attempts to retry
- Retry in clearer lighting
- Remove anything that might obscure your face
- Make sure you have at least 1 photo of you alone uploaded to your profile
- If you’re still not able to pass, please contact us
Camera issues:
A working camera is essential for this step, as you’ll need to take a photo to verify that it’s really you.
If your camera is broken, try switching to another device, ask a trusted person for assistance, or see if you can troubleshoot the camera on your current device.
Check your app permissions (for both camera and microphone):
- iPhone: Settings → BFF → Enable Camera/Microphone
- Android: Settings → Apps → BFF → Permissions → Enable Camera/Microphone
- Update the app and restart your phone
Selfie not clear:
- Make sure to use good lighting
- Avoid hats, sunglasses, or filters
- Make sure your face is clearly visible
